Being a small, friendly group of approximately 20 active members, everyone gets involved in all aspects of preparing for, and running, a show. If there isn’t a part on stage, there is still plenty of work to do back-stage and front-of-house on performance nights, and all hands are very welcome when it comes to set building!
Upon joining, we may be currently rehearsing for our next production, but you can still get involved throughout the rehearsal period by:
- Standing in for absentees during rehearsals
- Aiding the Stage Manager to work out staging logistics and sourcing props
- Aiding the Costume Designer with designs and costume sourcing
- Help our Set Designer conceptualise and plan the staging
- Help with the publicity of the production
This is a great time to get involved as you have the opportunity to get to know us, see how we operate and gain the confidence to audition, should you need that settling in period.
Membership Costs
Our membership is split between regular members who take part in the operation of the group, and patrons who show their support through financial contributions. To keep our fees low, we do pass on the cost of a script to those members performing in a production, meaning that you only pay for the parts you are involved in.
Rehearsals & Performances
From 2021, we will be producing plays twice a year, roughly around May for the first production and October for the second, with exact performance dates being notified when auditions are taking place. Following the May production, we have our Summer break where we have several social gatherings and play readings, before starting rehearsals for the autumn production.
All rehearsals up to two weeks prior to the performance are held in North Bushey Baptist Church, Bushey from around 19:30 on Monday and Thursday and generally last around 2.5 hours. For the performances and stage rehearsals for the final two weeks, we relocate to Henderson Hall, Abbots Langley.
If you have any questions about membership, please contact our Treasurer, Paul, at treasurer@thecentralians.co.uk or speak to any society member.
